Our Work
The money raised by the Fund goes directly into the care of the building. Over the years, the works we have financed include some of the most important repairs a church can need.
Works financed by the Fund
- Rebuilding the churchyard east wall
- Repairing the stonework around the west window and door
- Repairing the tower roof
- Treating the nave roof timbers for beetle infestation
- Installing new heating and lighting
- Repairing and cleaning the east window
Why it matters
Each of these is the kind of work that, left undone, threatens the whole building — water through a failing roof, beetle in the timbers, frost in cracked stone. By acting in good time, the Fund protects St Mary's for far less than emergency repairs would later cost.
How the work is funded
We are independent of the PCC and raise our money chiefly through community events — from Christmas Tree Festivals to our Vintage & Retro Exhibitions. Every ticket bought and every item donated turns directly into the upkeep of the church.
